World leaders endorse Buhari’s programmes, efforts – Lai Moh’d — 21st April 2017 The right won by Nigeria to host the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) conference in 2018 has been described as “”a global endorsement of programmes and efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration”. More than 30,000 militants from over 100 countries arrived to the Middle East in the past years to join terrorist organizations, such as Islamic State, ISIS and Al-Qaeda. UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov disclosed this in a report to the UN Security Council meeting. English football is in mourning following the sudden death of former Aston Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu at the age of 44. Ehiogu, who had had been working as a coach with Tottenham’s Under-23 team, suffered cardiac arrest at training on Thursday, but sadly passed away in hospital early on Friday morning. “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Ugo Ehiogu, our Under-23 coach,” a statement released by Tottenham said.

Building Collapse: SON to enforce standards in block making — 21st April 2017 From: Laide Raheem, Abeokuta Worried by the rise in building collapse incidents in the country, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has charged sandcrete block moulders to adhere strictly to the production standard of building blocks as laid down by the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS). Coordinator of Ogun State Office 1 of the SON, Engr. Samuel Ayuba, gave the charge on Thursday during a one day stakeholders forum and sensitisation workshop, organised for sandcrete block makers from Ogun West and Egba division of the State, held in Ota, Ogun State. Abuja airport ready for operations tomorrow — 18th April 2017 By Uche Usim with agency reports Director-General , Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Usman Muktar, said the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, runway is ready for operation and will be opened tomorrow. He stated this yesterday during an inspection of the airport’s runway. The Abuja airport was closed on March 8 for six weeks to enable rehabilitation of its 3.6 kilometres runway to be carried out. Flight activities were consequently diverted to Kaduna International Airport during the period. The Federal Government had announced that the airport would be reopened for normal operations on April 19. He disclosed that NCAA had concluded the second phase of inspection as follow-up to the recommendations made to the contractors to correct some areas of concern earlier identified by a team of experts. 21 YR OLD BOY EMERGES BEST GRADUATING STUDENT FUTA

A 21-year-old graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA), Alli Abdulazees has emerged the best graduating student of the university for the 2016/2017 academic session. Alli who had a CGPA of 4.89 graduated with a First Class in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The young graduate who was the cynosure of eyes at the convocation of the university held recently, attributed his academic success to the grace of God, determination and hard work. In his speech at the ceremony, President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, of the National Universities Commission (NUC) said his administration was determined to develop the education sector.
